Meet the Principal

It is truly an honor to serve as principal of STAR Academy. My journey in education started in 2006, when I was a paraprofessional for a multi-disabled student in Wyoming.  In 2008 I moved to Arizona and began my teaching career as a 5-8th grade resource teacher. I spent 4 years there, before assuming the role as a pre-school teacher and then an exceptional needs coach. More recently, I was an Individual Education Coordinator.  At the end of last year I had the privilege of becoming the principal of STAR Academy.

I do not view the position of principal as a job, but instead as an opportunity to lead our school to accomplish great things. The role of principal entails many exciting opportunities associated with student achievement. However, most importantly, my personal and professional goal is to provide children with a high quality education where every student achieves success.
My mission as principal is to always put kids first!

Our school must be a place where students want to learn and have fun. I promise to provide a learning environment that is positive, safe, caring; a fun place to learn and grow. My goal is always to invest time in getting to know the STAR Academy school community – the students, parents, families, teachers, staff, and community members. My goal is also to provide our students the essentials needed for success in a safe and warm environment. In order to achieve this goal, I believe it is essential for us to work together.

This year there will be exciting events and activities planned for all of our students. Our outdoor education area with the garden is truly amazing. Our students love planting new flowers and vegetables.

Again, I am thrilled to be STAR Academy's Principal and I am looking forward to embarking on another exciting school year.
